MEET IGGY
“A good bike should have a good name” says friendly local Yolanda who kindly fed me super noodles last night. So meet Iggy. As in Iggy Pop. Bowie’s collaborator, conspirator, hell raiser, friend and now my emaciated buttock carrier.
Every great explorer needs a sidekick, so it was unfortunate Iggy had me. The choosing of this particular name wasn’t without coincidence. Iggy Pop was the skin, bones and veins frontman of The Stooges; a rambunctious bunch of racketeers making waves in the early 70s punk scene. Bowie when searching for his own identity had admired his rampaging stage presence and befriended him. This was the start of a friendship and musical ping pong over many decades where they shared ideas, recorded, played, and later sank into drug-fuelled despair together…
